Best Travel Times

The best time to travel is during the dry seasons from July through September and Mid of December to February when you can enjoy the best game viewing period. The best time to climb Mount Kilimanjaro is from August to October and from January to March.

In September to Mid October the climate is very dry and the animals are forced to stay close to the waterholes and rivers where you can watch them very nicely.

Late October to mid December is when the short rains occur. The long rains start in March and end around late May when travels can be cumbersome.

While the weather is quite temperate to hot in Tanzania, the coastal area has a tropical climate. Temperatures on Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru can drop to below freezing above 4000m altitude.

Generally dry and hot with cool nights/mornings from June-October, short rains from November to mid-December, long rains March-May but the seasons can vary slightly.
